Whatever you do...get your passport now. Even if you haven't any plans for overseas travel, do yourself a favor and apply today. No I do not work for the U.S. Passport office, I am a disgruntled customer. I applied for the kids passports in early February for our trip in April to Italy. As of now we still are without them. Initially the passport office said we should receive them around mid March. Now they are saying early May. I call and email but to no avail. Why? You can't get through. They say "according to high call volume please call later" click. Even at midnight. They are supposedly open from 7am until midnight, last night I sat and redialed from 9pm until midnight and not once got through. Pitiful if you ask me. The voice mail says, "don't worry", but I am worried. My plans are made, the kids time off of school was approved and I am ready to go. Hopefully I will get an answer soon via email. What a travel disaster. I will let you know when they arrive buy in the mean time my friends apply for that passport today or you too will be sorry.
