The Whelan's

I am the type of person that lives to travel and even I am amazed that it's time to plan the next vacation. Maybe because I went back to work and school has been truly stressful this year but, for some reason, it kinda snuck up on me. So where to go has been the question floating around the house the past couple weeks. I knew it was going to be the Caribbean but which Island, I wasn't sure. Then as fate would have it, I found a photo of an airport that has a runway at the end of a beach and you can watch planes as large as 747's landing 30-60 ft above your head. Way too cool for me or Alex to pass up. Elizabeth even likes this idea. The place is St Maarten, Antilles (the Dutch Netherlands). Half of the Island is Dutch, the other half French. We will be landing on the Dutch side but staying in a private villa just over the border on the french side. The homes (villas) are just as reasonable in price as the hotels but much more privacy and room. Our villa is a 3 bedroom 3 bath with a pool and private beach. I paid more in Ocean City for a 2 bedroom condo than for this villa. Awesome.
