In Memory of my Best Friend

It is with a very heavy heart that I pay tribute to my best friend. Richie Abbajay was the most loving, caring and giving person and I will forever miss him.In my heart I will treasure every memory. Richie was probably the loudest person I ever met, everyone knew when he was in the room. Everyone was also happy when he was around because he made them smile. He was so animated with his story tellings that you would sit on the edge of your seat and them laugh heartily while he made wild gestures. He made me a more secure and confident individual. He picked me up when I was down and brought me down when I got too full of myself. But during all of this he always let me know that he cared. Everyone who met him loved him. I loved him. He made you feel good about yourself. He will be sorely missed and my world has dimmed dramatically with his passing. I could go on and on about this special person but in the end I must say goodbye, and that my friends has been the most difficult thing for me to do. So I will just say "until we meet again" because I don't think I will ever be able to say "Good Bye".
Its baking time!
I have just returned from the store, where I filled my cart full of all the baking basic's. I think I chose the perfect day to go because everything in the baking aisle was on sale. Lucky me, left me money for a hot chocolate.mmnnnn The temperature 2 days ago broke a record , hi near 80 degrees, today a crisp 45 degrees. That hot chocolate was a necessity let me tell you.
Anyway, I am just about to pull out the ole kitchen aid to make pie crust for my pumpkin pies.
I need to make 1 for the house and 3 for a bake sale (Cats R US fund raiser). My son loves pumpkin pie BUT only if it is made with the canned pumpkin. I made him a pie with fresh pumkin and you would have thought it had rat poison in it. I really need to figure out how to get all the water out of fresh pumpkin. Any ideas ????Well off to the kitchen..ta ta for now.

My life as a kitten foster

As most people know, I am quite fond of furry little kitties. What alot of people don't know is that I foster kittens for a non profit cat rescue group called Cats R Us. What happens is this..I usually receive a phone call about a group of kittens that have just been rescued. I take them in, take them to the vet to get checked out, get their shots up to date and then have them spayed or neutered. This is possible by the help of local vets who do this on a free or low cost basis for the organization. I usually have them about a week to 3 weeks depending on their ages. Every Saturday, we take the kitties to a kitty adoption show where people come looking to adopt a kitten or cat. It sounds like a lot of work but it is very rewarding and both Alex and Elizabeth love it.
Check out some of the
kittens that have been rescued.
This is a picture of Cambridge. She is 5 weeks old and thats my hand holding her up to get her photo taken to go on the Cats R US website.
Football

It's that time. Alex's football team, the Wildcats, have made the playoffs. We have to go tonite for the weigh-in. The kids can't weigh more than 12lbs since the season began. Fortunately, Alex still weighs the same as when they started. How can a kid even gain weight with all that running around anyway? You would be surprised. We have a few chunkies. Hopefully all will make weight and we can get onto the first game. Wednesday night. Wish us luck. Due to rain, this year the kids had their team pictures late. I will post the new photo when it comes in but for now, this is last years picture. Isn't he the greatest?
