Skillet Concert in Ocean City, Maryland

Elizabeth was thrilled when she found out she was going to attend the Skillet concert in Ocean City yesterday. She drove down with her dad, secured an ocean front room in the hotel, relaxed in the hot tub and walked the boardwalk in anticipation of the big night ahead.

She texted me and Alex more times than I can count expressing her excitement. Her friend Makayla was not able to go so Elizabeth got her a t-shirt from the concert. I am sure she will be excited when she gets it. Apparently the seats I secured online were awesome; about 10 feet away from the stage. How come that never happens when I went to concert? Hmmm.

Now you may be thinking...Skillet? Never heard of them. Well, I hadn't either but all of a sudden all the kids (14-17) are raving about them. I thought they were just another rock band but no, they are a christian rock band and there is no cussing in the lyrics or by the band while on stage. Finally! Thank You! I hate all that trash mouth talk. This band has proven that you can still have a successful career and large follwing without all the sailor talk.

Well, Elizabeth just texted me again to let me know they will be back by noon. Better go throw something in the crockpot for lunch. I am sure she will filling me in on all the details the moment she walks through the door. :)

Less than a week from the BIG storm and the temps hit the 70's

Amazingly, the kids went to school this morning without coats on. Less than a week ago we had over 10 inches of snow and 2 full days of temperatures below freezing. Now today the temp is suppose to be in the 60's and Sat and Sun are both gonna be full of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70's. I may actually leave my house today....Oops forgot....I am leaving the house and meeting my old friend Susan Miller-Doucet for lunch on the Eastern Shore. When I say it's been a long time I am talking 25 years....from our high school days. Hopefully she hasn't aged better than me :)

Now we need to keep the teeth straight.

Both Alex and Elizabeth are out of braces and into retainers. Gone are the days of plain off-white retainers and now adays kids have a choice of not only colors but also logos and sports teams. Of course, Alex chose his beloved Miami Dolphins and Elizabeth, who is currently a Linkin Park fan, chose their logo and color scheme.

For those of you with kids currently in braces or will be going through the process in the future; it may help the kids to know that at the end they can create their own design on their retainers and that may lessen the stress and pain of going through the brace-face process.

More than 10 inches of snow

More than 10 inches of snow....I know my cousin Nancy wishes she were here.

Winter Wonderland 2009

And here I thought we were gonna squeak by this winter with little to no snow. As much as that was my hope, it is still beautiful to see. Unfortunately for me and my emergency essencial classification; I had to spend 14 hours straight dealing with this beauty at the airport last night.

Now that the snow has nearly stopped falling I will probably have to go back in tonight and deal with icy roadways. So, in other words, as much as it is beautiful to see...it does make my work life a little miserable at times.

The kids are out sledding and snowboarding and I am hanging out in my sweat pants, drinking tea and otherwise doing nothing today...My kind of afternnoon.

By the way....suppose to be back in the 60's in the next couple days...now that's more like it.

Any volunteers for washing the salt of my car?
