Going to the races.

The family headed to Miami - Key Largo in Novemeber for a little rest, relaxation and an exciting NASCAR race. It was ELizabeth's first race and she complained for months that she did not want to go. In the end, once we were there, she admitted that it was a lot different than she thought it would be and actually had a good time. I was watching for her reaction when the cars started their engines for the first time and came out onto the track. The noice can be deafening but I saw the first signs of a smile creep onto her face. She glanced my way and I knew she was going to okay for next 4 hours.
This was the final race of the year, the Championship, and last time that our favorite drive, Tony Stewart would be driving in the #20 Home Depot car. Alex was excited beyond belief when he found out we had pit road passes and would be able to be up close and personal on the race track, pit boxes and even stand in Tony Stewarts own pit box.
Being that it was a championship race, the night was filled with music and other activities. Orange County Choppers was there and they were able to meet the guys and get their autographs. All in all it was a good night, even though after dark the wind kicked up and I had to quickly purchase sweat shirts so we didn't freeze....if you can call temps in the 60's freezing.
Labels: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, my school, was at the races.
