Early Morning Fishing

Up at 6am and out the door for Alex and his fishing buddy (his dad). He loves to fish and during the day he usually heads to the back of our house and fishes off the pier with his friend Brandon. On Richard's days off they take the boat out and either go tubing, just cruise around or fish for a couple hours in the Severn River. On this day though Alex was excited to go fishing under the Bay Bridge. According to Alex it was just around the bend of the river and I could easily take him myself one day...yeah right. Anyway, we keep our boat at the marina behind us so it was just a matter of running out the door, jumping in and heading out. Richard sent me pics of their trip but I am sure they were taken just to prove to me that Alex was wearing his life jacket. I am very adament about both kids wearing their life jackets, to the point of being nasty at times. But hey, I'm the mom and I'm in charge. :)

Alex is not looking too happy in this picture but I think he was still very tired. For a child that is use to getting up at 8am for school, this was difficult. Even though he was excited the night before he is not a morning person. Can't blame him though, I love to sleep in in the morning.

The photo was taken just after sunrise and it was still a little foggy out.

Now who caught a fish?...No one, just a couple nibbles according to Alex. Maybe next time.

Now you may all be surprised but I do take the boat out sometimes, just me and the kids. I am not great at casting off and docking, I bang into the sides nearly everytime but, practice makes perfect and boats have a nice little rubber bumper just for me.:) I think I horrified my sister the first time I took her out but the boat is still floating and we survived. We (the kids and I) did take a boating safety course, we passed and we all have our boating licenses so never fear.

Until next time.......
