Blue Angels and Navy Graduation

Well I guess it is officially summer. The Blue Angels had their air show on Wednesday and the Naval Academy graduation is today. First off was the airshow. This year we took our boat out and watched the show from the Severn River. What a view. The kids stayed home from school so they could enjoy the incredible air acrobatics too. I will never understand parents who will not allow their kids to see this show. Many students in the kids classes have never witnessed this awesome demonstration. Yes school is important but really, it is not as if you can't make up the work. Oh well, that's just my opinion. I believe children learn more by experience than by reading about it in a book.

Next is Navy graduation. The traffic, crowded streets and restaurants, the people all over the place. I met my friend Carole for lunch at the mall and the traffic was not too bad for me but she had a little bit more to deal with. We had a fabulous lunch and she is such a great friend, I am so blessed to have her in my life. She surprised me by treating me for my birthday. Thanks Carole.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day. About 78 degrees and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky. The weather for the next 10 days is about the same except the temperature is going to be hovering around 85 degrees. Love it.

Let's see what else is going on..oh yeah..we have a little kitten that we rescued. Callie is about 4-5 weeks old and living in my bathroom. When she hits 8 weeks she will be going to the CATS R US kitty adoption shows. Of course the kids want to keep her but with Tony have feline leukemia, it is not safe for her to stay here too long.

And last but certainly not least, the kids have just 2 more weeks of school. Last day is June 6th. A part of me is glad that I won't have to fight to get them out of bed in the mornings but another part of me will miss my quiet afternoons. Maybe I should look into summer camp again :)

Spring has Sprung in Maryland

The weather has been fanastic for a while now and I am thrilled. The cold, dreary winter is (hopefully) a thing of the past. We have planted our flowers. Elizabeth is in the process of cleaning out her clubhouse (half of the shed is hers, the other half is for storage), she planted flowers in her flower boxes and has a table and chairs set up inside. It's cute! Alex, of course, spent more time playing than actually helping., as you can see by the photo of him 4 wheeling by on his ATV. His tune began to change when I started putting a dollar value on the actual work they do and then that determined their allowance. Needless to say, Elizabeth's allowance was much higher than his. You should have seen him loading the dishwaher, miracles really do happen.
Then, of course a cat, there's Cracker sitting on the deck, watching the action below.

I might be away again for a little while. It is final exam week coming up for me and I would like to finish with a bang. I graduate on my birthday (16th) and I can't believe it. It has been a long, long road but it has been worth it. How worth it you say? Well, I was just recently promoted at work. A nice 5 grade pay increase and I actually have a title :)

That's right. I am now the "Chief of Terminal and Landside Operations" at BWI. Who would of thought? I expected to be a "ramp rat" my entire aviation career. Should see my business attire wardrobe, I actually look good going to work now. .

Anyway, gotta run. Check back soon.
