The Whelan's

It has been quite a while but I am almost ready to begin blogging again on a more regular basis. This post will about our trip this past Easter to St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles (Dutch and French West Indies) in the Caribbean. It was a blast. I miss the warm sea breezes and the beautiful teal waters. The kids have been to Hawaii but this was their first Caribbean adventure and I am sure there will be many more. As you know from past posts, this was our destination of choice because of the location of Princess Julianna Airport right next to Maho Beach. The airplanes flew as low as 30 feet above your head. How cool is that?

Anyway, let move onto the few selected pics. There are hundreds of pics so it was hard to pick just a few but I here goes.

First is Alex standing next to the surfboard that lists the arrival times of large aircraft. The surfboard is maintained by a bar names The Sunset Beach Bar located right on Maho Beach and next to the runway. The second pic is the warning sign. The 3rd pic is Elizabeth after she had her hair braided in the Bo Derek look. 75 Braids and 225 beads and 3 hours of suffering as 2 Caribbean woman worked on her aching head. I had no idea it was painful but according to Elizabeth is was. The next pics were taken at the villa we rented. Perfect views of the Caribbean from everyroom and the blacony had a wet bar that the kids pretended was their own bar. Alex played the drunk and Elizabeth the bar tender. They definitely watch too much TV since neither Richard nor I have ever gotten drunk in from of them.

We have many pics I would love to share but for now I need to return to work before I get fired.
