Wedding Number Two!

This fast becoming the year of weddings. This is the 2nd wedding in the past 2 months that we attended and still another on books for November. We went for the past 4-5 years without one so this is unusual. I have attched a few photos for your viewing enjoyment. My dad and brother Patrick both sat at our table so I had to show them and also the kids in the Hawaiian attire. The kids really are not huge fans of weddings but they do better and better after each one.

Hey Nancy,

Your dad, Janice, Tommy and Debbie sat at the table next to ours. We spent a little time chatting and you will be happy to know that your name came up a few times. So never fear, we haven't forgotten you....:)

Oliver's surgery was a success.

He came thru his surgery much better than the vet thought he would and he is now home and recovering comfortably. He said the tumor was the size of a green grape and wedged tightly in his ear canal. Ouch! No wonder he was so grouchy. This morning I easily gave him his pill and ear drops and he still was purring and happy to see me. We haven't heard him purr in a long time and I am so thankful that he is going to be ok. Now when you see the photo you are going to be wondering what happened to his furr. Well, since he was sick he stopped grooming himself. The furr on his hind quartered started to get matted and no amount of brushing would break it loose. I asked the vet to trim him and he said he would give him a lion cut. I said ok not knowing that it meant nearly shaving him bald except for his feet, head and half his tail. Needless to say we were shocked when we saw him. Hopefully it will grow back before winter or he will need a kitty coat. The cone around his neck is to keep his claws off his ear. Thanks for the well wishes, they apparently worked.

Poor Oliver

I need everyone to say a prayer for Alex's kitty Oliver. He is a 9 year old orange tabby and super sweet. He went to the vet tonight and goes in for surgery in the morning. He was being treated for ear mite infection but unfortunately it was really a tumor. They are going to try and remove it tomorrow. If they are unsucessful then he will have to see a kitty surgeon and I will be in the poor house.

Here he is with Alex, who loves him very much and offered to spend all the money in his savings account to save his cat. Wish us luck.

Redskins 16, Dolphins 13

Well we recently returned from a great football game. I was really hoping that it was going to be a competitive game and let me tell you, it could not have been better. They were tied throughout most of the game and we never knew who was going to win until it ended up in over time and the Redskins won. Alex was disappointed as he is a huge Miami fan but he had a great time. The only downside to the day was that the temperature was in the high 90's and the sun was scorching. I got my first tan (almost a burn) of the summer and here it is almost fall. We drank so much water and I was still starting to feel light headed with that heat. Water was $5.00 per bottle at that. No wonder the Redskins are the riches team in the NFL :)

These are a few of the photos I took.

Are you ready for some football?

This Sunday, NFL opening weekend, Alex and I will be heading to Landover, MD to FexEx Field to watch the Washington Redskins take on the Miami Dolphins. We are both huge fans of both teams and have been eargerly awaiting this match up. The last time we saw them play together was in Miami in November of 2003 and the Dolphins won 24-23. Alex and I make a really strange pair at these NFL games because we root for both teams. Every Sunday I wish for both teams to win but when they play each other my only wish is that it is a competitive game and I am happy for whatever team wins. Alex on the other hand likes the Redskins but he LOVES the Dolphins and he will be dressed to the teeth in his Fins gear.

The picture that is attached was taken in our ocean front room in Miami Beach as we were heading to the game in 2003. Yes that was our view, amazing huh? As soon as this game is over look for more up to date pictures as I plan on taking plenty.
